Research Help

Kingston Branch accepts surname queries for publication in our newsletter, Kingston Relations. Send your query submission to our newsletter editor at the address on our Contact page, and be sure to mark it clearly: Surname Search and Queries.

  • Include your postal address and any other contact information you have, such as e-mail address and telephone number.
  • Make sure your query contains distinct references to people who lived in our specific area of interest and/or events that occurred here.
  • We decline any queries that don’t contain distinct place and date references.
  • We also don’t publish queries about people who are still living.

If you’re a branch member, there is no charge for submitting queries, so be sure to provide your OGS membership number. You may submit as many queries as you want.

If you’re not a member, you’re equally encouraged to submit as many queries as you want at a charge of $5 per query. Payment is due with your query. Make your cheque payable to “Kingston Branch OGS”. Payment is accepted in U.S. or Canadian funds only.

This is a service to distant genealogists. These inquiries are answered by volunteers. Local researchers are encouraged to visit the Kingston Branch OGS library. Due to the shortage of volunteers and the volume of inquiries, responses may take 4 – 6 weeks.
