This section is for Primary Records that are available to the Public.

  • These records include scans of original records or transcriptions of records or both.
  • These records are documents that serve as historical evidence.
  • Records are generally considered final and should not be altered once created.
  • Records provide evidence for and serve as proof of past events.

These are distinct from the documents found in the section for Secondary Documents.

  • A document is simply a piece of written or electronic information.
  • A document may reflect or interpret a primary record.
  • Documents can be edited and updated frequently.
  • Documents may provide information and instructions.
