Please join the Kingston Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS) on Saturday, October 18, 2025, for a special event: 

  • From 10:00 to 11:30 we will hold our regular (brief) Branch meeting, including a presentation from Mags Gaulden on “An Introduction to WikiTree.
  • From 12:00 noon to about 3:00 p.m. Mags will lead a workshop on advanced WikiTree topics, starting from the elements in the intro session and doing a deeper dive.
    • Attendees will also learn a great deal more about DNA as it relates to WikiTree.
    • The workshop is based on the knowledge levels and questions from the participants.
  • The meeting and workshop are free for all participants.  The same Zoom registration link should be used for the whole day.
  • If you are staying for the afternoon session, please bring a lunch AND your laptop or tablet.

Mags Gaulden is a well-known and highly respected genealogist and educator.  A long-term user of WikiTree, Mags currently leads The DNA Innovators Project, The United Empire Loyalist Project, and the Montebeliard Emmigrants to Nova Scotia Project. She also leads the Golden/Gaulden, Templeton and McElmoyle One Name Studies and the Golden/Gaulden, Templeton, McElmoyle and WikiTree and McElmoyle DNA Projects.

She is the founder of mitoYDNA.org, a free and accessible YDNA and mtDNA database. She is a member in good standing of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the International Society of Genetic Genealogy, the Ontario Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the Ontario Genealogical Association, the Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Association, and BIFHSGO, the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa.

Mags is a Genetic Genealogy Lecturer, Blogger and a Social Media Maven serving as an admin for several Facebook groups including the International Society of Genetic Genealogy Facebook Group.

This meeting is a hybrid meeting, so you are welcome to attend in person at the Kingston Seniors’ Centre or check in via Zoom using this link.  (Attendees to the morning session who wish to attend the afternoon session should remain checked in to Zoom over the lunch break, as it is the same meeting.)
