Please join the Kingston Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS) on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:30 for our regular Branch meeting and presentation.
Heather Oakley has been an active volunteer in the Ottawa genealogy community since 1988 and a board member of the Ottawa Branch of OGS for most of this period. Heather will share with the Kingston Branch one of her most important lessons learned: Cite your sources.
Her talk is entitled “Are you a “trust-me” genealogist?” She asks “Why would anyone believe what your research says?”
The Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) is a set of guidelines that helps genealogists establish the reliability of their family tree research. The GPS helps ensure that genealogists meet minimum standards when proving ancestry.
As part of GPS, you need to cite your sources. At this session we will learn about why it is important and the resources you need to do it right.
Plans have changed and this meeting will now be on Zoom only. There will be no in-person or hybrid version of this meeting.
Please click here to register. The link to join the meeting will then arrive in your mailbox.
We hope to see you on-line on Saturday morning!
