November 17, 2018 – Kingston Branch member Nancy Cutway gave a fascinating talk and slideshow about searching for ancestors’ names on WWI monuments and memorials in northern France.

October 20, 2018 – Gail Dever gave a lively and well-attended presentation about Taking Advantage of Social Media for Your Research, discussing Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Facebook, blogs, and more. During the brief educational session before her talk, branch member Thérèse Gilbert demonstrated some of the main research sites about Québec ancestors.

September 15, 2018 – Shirley-Ann Pyefinch gave an informative and interesting talk about recent developments and updates to the FamilySearch site.

May 19, 2018   James Brownell gave a very interesting talk and slideshow about The Lost Villages  which existed along the St. Lawrence River before the building of the seaway in the late 1950s.

April 21, 2018 — Kyla Ubbink gave an interesting and informative presentation about the Preservation of Documents and Photos.

March 17, 2018 — Dr. Bruce Elliott spoke to a full house on the topic of Ireland, Irish Immigration and Research in Canadian Records.

February 17, 2018 — Our Annual General Meeting and 45th Anniversary was celebrated with a silent auction, photo display and presentation of a certificate by OGS President Patti Mordasewicz. The meeting was preceded by an interesting talk by Joyce Fingland about Downloading Data from FTDNA or Ancestry and Uploading to GED Match.

January 20, 2018 — In a special double-session that began at 9:00 a.m., guest speaker Marian Press gave two excellent presentations: (1) Are You Really Finding It All When You Search?: Mining Databases For Every Nugget Of Information and (2) Putting Your Family Tree Online: Making Use of Modern Technology to Share What You Know.
