Local Research: Digital Kingston

Digital Kingston is a community-based initiative to make historical and current information about Kingston and Frontenac County available in digital format. Find it at www.digitalkingston.ca

The project was started in 2002. Now led by Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL), it was initiated by community partners including the City of Kingston, KFPL, Kingston Branch OGS, Pittsburgh Historical Society, Kingston Area Museums, Queen’s Universities Libraries and Archives, Queen’s GIS Lab, and the Kingston and District Community Information Centre.

Digital Kingston aims to make available historical documents from the last 200 years.

Of particular interest to genealogists may be its Quick Links to Resources page, with shortcuts to historical maps, land records, census records, civil registrations and more. It also allows researchers to browse lists of newspapers, city directories, books and other resources by date range or by township.
